When properly purchased an investment house can give you an attractive return on your initial investment. 

-can allow you to depreciate the house on your taxes.

-can be paid off over time by a tenant.

-often times, you can increase the value over time (depending on the current market).

Real estate investing is a long term proposition enabling you to create wealth over time. But, it's not for everyone.
